With the exception of imperial jadeite and certain rare colors of diamonds, ruby is the world's most expensive gem. A ruby is a pink to blood-red-colored gemstone. The ruby is considered one of the four precious stones, together with sapphire, the emerald, and the diamond.
All natural rubies have imperfections in them, including color impurifies and inclusions of rutile needles known as "silk". Usually the rough stone is heated before cutting, and improving transparency by dissolving rutile inclusions.
Almost all rubies today are treated in some form, with heat treatment being the most common practice. Improving the quality of gemstones by treating them is common practice. Some treatments are used in almost all cases and are therefore considered acceptable. 
The color depends from the lighting conditions.Under strong day / sun light the color is red. Without sunlight the color is more  purple than red. Please, keep in mind that the color is very subjective thing.
